Krista McCord, Ph.D.

Engineer Senior

For my dissertation research, I developed a new simulation code in C to model dark matter halos and carried out analysis on the results using Python. This project has developed my programming skills as well as teach me about the process of developing software such as debugging and testing. Previously, during my undergraduate studies, I worked for the Magdalena Ridge Observatory Interferometer project as an instrumentation technician. I worked on a team testing and evaluating hardware for the interferometer. Additionally, my tasks included optical and mechanical design for the automated alignment system. One of my jobs was to design and build an automated enclosure for mirror coating tests which required my creativity and critical thinking skills. I enjoy being challenged with tasks that require me to learn new skills.
